Investigation underway after death of man on narrow boat
An investigation is under way after the death of a man on a narrow boat which sank while passing through a lock.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called to a stretch of waterway in Worcestershire at around 11am on Monday.
The incident happened on a lock along the Droitwich Junction Canal, off themain Worcester and Birmingham Canal.
Firefighters managed to get the man off the boat but he could not besaved. An elderly woman who was able to get herself off the boat was uninjured.
The Canal & River Trust, which is responsible for the country's waterways, said it would assist with any investigation to see if any measures were needed to prevent a repeat of the tragic incident.
