Four dead and three seriously injured in head-on-crash

Four people, believed to be from Northampton, have died and three others including a three-year-old boy were seriously injured in a head-on crash.

The accident involving a black Mercedes and a blue Citroen Saxo happened on the A420 Shrivenham bypass, near Swindon, at 11.15pm on Sunday.

The four people who died, two men and two women, all aged in their 20s, are understood to be from the Northampton area.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: "The Citroen Saxo was travellingtowards Oxford while the Mercedes was travelling in the opposite direction when the two vehicles collided head-on.

"Tragically, all four occupants of the Citroen Saxo, two men and two women all in their mid-20s, died at the scene.
