Drivers faced traffic chaos after scaffolding surrounding a half-demolished pub collapsed at the height of the morning rush hour.

The structure surrounding the Birmingham Arms in Dudley Road, Winson Green, came down at 8.20am on Thursday.

A passer-by, Bilal, aged 37, took dramatic pictures of the fallen scaffolding as he was taking his daughter to school.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman added: “We are at the scene at the moment carrying out traffic control.

"We have contacted Birmingham City Council who will be at the scene shortly to clear up the scaffolding.”
