Rush hour chaos as scaffolding from derelict pub crashes down onto busy road
Drivers faced traffic chaos after scaffolding surrounding a half-demolished pub collapsed at the height of the morning rush hour.
The structure surrounding the Birmingham Arms in Dudley Road, Winson Green, came down at 8.20am on Thursday.
Police were called to the scene, near City Hospital, as scaffolding was left strewn across the footpath and road.
A passer-by, Bilal, aged 37, took dramatic pictures of the fallen scaffolding as he was taking his daughter to school.
A West Midlands Police spokeswoman added: “We are at the scene at the moment carrying out traffic control.
"We have contacted Birmingham City Council who will be at the scene shortly to clear up the scaffolding.”
