Huge crash as car smashes into row of parked cars

A man was rushed to hospital after a car smashed into a row of parked vehicles – leaving a massive trail of destruction in its wake.

The seven-car accident happened in Douglas Road, Acocks Green, Birmingham, at 8.45pm on Wednesday.

It left vehicles overturned and others smashed into garden fences.

Fire crews from Hay Mills station helped free the injured man. They tweeted pictures from the scene showing a number of vehicles on their side.

A telegraph pole was also torn down in the smash.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said:

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and drink driving.
