Talks underway between Midlands ambulance services

Discussions are underway to look at how West Midlands Ambulance Service may be able to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) has come under increasing pressure for slow response times and are struggling financially.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service trust said 'a range of options' were being discussed, but nothing had yet been agreed.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said:

If the two ambulances do decide to work together, the new service would cover a population of more than 10m people.

That would make it the biggest ambulance service in the world.
