A horse rider who was found wandering in a country lane has been airlifted to hospital, as he was in a confused state, unsure of exactly what had happened to himself.

He was found near Summerhill Junction by Brynore Hall near Ellesmere in Shropshire at around 12.50pm on Wednesday.

Ambulance crews said the 51-year-old was wearing a horse riding helmet and body protection but he was confused.

A horse was found running free in a nearby lane.
