Photo released of man suspected of stealing boy's £500 birthday money
Detectives have released a photo of a man suspected of stealing a boy's birthday money in a distraction-style burglary in Birmingham.
The man approached a woman outside Cash Converters in Erdington on 4 February and asked her if she was interested in buying any electronic items, West Midlands Police said.
The 33-year-old agreed to buy a laptop from him and asked the man to follow her back to her house on Cattells Grove, Nechells to complete the sale.
Once inside the man asked her to check behind the TV to see if it had the correct connection points, before he told the woman he needed to get the charger for the laptop from his car.
Police said the man never returned, and the woman immediately noticed the £500 in cash that she had withdrawn from the bank for her son's birthday had been taken from her bag.
Anyone who recognises the man is urged to contact PC Mark Shorthouse at Birmingham Central police station by calling 101.
