A photographer has captured the moment a tiger was spotted building a snowball at Dudley Zoo.

Amateur photographer Ian Thomas, 52, from Anglesey, in North Wales, perched in the snow for four hours before capturing the moment of the two big cats playing in the snow.

The tiger compound has a viewing platform that doesn't require any fencing due to its design.

The tigers can roam below you and at the same level once they ascend the sloping bank towards the back of the compound.

And despite the frozen temperatures, he insists that his long wait was made worth it for just 15 minutes with the big cats.

Despite capturing the incredible shot, Ian insists that his favourite photo came when one of the legendary predators went face to face with him for a portrait.
