A new system which allows travellers in Nottingham to pay for services across the city's buses and trams with a smartcard is being launched today.

The Robin Hood smartcard launches its introductory phase today and is designed to work like London's Oyster card with a passengers paying less than the standard daily rate.

The card is valid within Nottingham on services operated by several companies:

  • Nottingham City Transport, Pathfinder and South Notts

  • Trent Barton and Kinchbus

  • Nottingham Express Transit (Tram)

  • Linkbus network, including bus park and ride

It's hoped that other operators including suburban rail will eventually be added to the list of companies participating in the scheme.

Passengers can obtain the smartcard from sixty Citycard machines, which have been updated as part of the Robin Hood project.
