British screenwriter eyes Zac Efron or Robert Pattinson for Jamie Vardy film
Renowned screenwriter Adrian Butchart says he wants to make a biopic about Leicester City and England striker Jamie Vardy's rise from a non-league-footballer to a top-flight-record-breaker.
The 28-year-old earned his place in football's history books yesterday by scoring in his 11th consecutive Premier League game against Manchester United on Saturday.
Just three years ago, he was still playing non-league football for Fleetwood Town, also working part-time in a factory.
Now there are reportedly plans to make his story into a Hollywood blockbuster, with Butchart, who was part of the team behind the first and second 'Goal' movies, showing a strong interest in putting the wheels in motion.
Butchart even touted Hollywood stars Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron and Andrew Garfield to play the role of Vardy in the ultimate rag-to-riches tale.
'It's the kind of story that if we made it up, people wouldn't believe it,' Butchart told The Sun.
"His achievements are incredible and to break the Premier League record with such a sublime goal against the biggest club in football pushed him to the top of our agenda.
'It's amazing to think he was playing non-league football and making medical splints for a living until so recently before breaking the record. It is the kind of role actors dream of"
