Police prepare Kayleigh Haywood’s family for ‘the worst’ as her disappearance becomes a murder inquiry
Kayleigh’s Haywood’s family have been told by police to prepare for ‘the worst’, with the investigation into the 15-year-old’s disappearance becoming a murder inquiry.
Kayleigh hasn’t been seen for five days since being dropped off at Ibstock Community College on Friday evening.
She spoke to her parents on the phone on Saturday morning but she hasn’t been heard or seen from since.
Over the past 48 hours searches have taken place at Sence Valley Forest park, a property on George Avenue in Ibstock, and most recently laybys and farmland near the village of Belton.
Police have now revealed they have found items of clothing belonging to the teen during these searches.
Her family have now been told to prepare for bad news.
Detective Chief Superintendent David Sandall, Head of Crime, said:
Two men, aged 28 and 27, have now been arrested on suspicion of Kayleigh's murder,
This morning, a team of officers with shovels, rakes and a police dog arrived at a field near Belton. They have been searching undergrowth and beneath a blue tarpaulin.
