Nearly 400 abortions carried out in the West Midlands last year were on women who had already had at least three terminations.
Department of Health figures show that there were 383 abortions carried out in the West Midlands in 2014 that were at least the fourth for the women involved.
Experts explained that most women may consider an abortion where contraception had failed them.
Across the country there were over 4,600 abortions carried out last year on women who were on at least their fourth time.
