Sporting Khalsa: Club with curry house hopes for FA Cup glory

It is a Black Country club that boasts of a curry house on its grounds, and if they beat FC United of Manchester on Saturday, they could face league opposition.

Sporting Khalsa is the lowest ranked team still in the competition.

Around 50 people watch Khalsa’s league games at Aspray Arena, Willenhall – the only UK ground to boast a curry house, the '4-4-2 Bar'.

Around 2,000 are expected for the crunch Cup tie against a team set-up 10 years ago by disillusioned Manchester United supporters.

Sporting Khalsa were formed 25 years ago by Willenhall Sikh Temple to give youngsters a kickabout at the local park.

Trustee, Jas Singh Dhillon, who was among those youngsters, admitted he is still struggling to come to terms with the Roy of the Rovers tale.

Sporting Khalsa are within touching distance of big game, thanks to a 2-1 away win against Spalding United on Tuesday. The two sides had previously drawn in front of a vocal, 420-strong crowd.
