Derbyshire action group plan to buy local grammar school
A community action group is pressing ahead with a campaign to buy the Grade II listed Heanor Grammar School on Mundy Street.
The building is the work of famous Derbyshire architect, George Widdows who was responsible for the design of about 80 schools in the area.
Derby college put the site up for sale after it dropped its plans to turn the derelict building into a digital studio college.
Heanor Grammer School Action Group are now asking local residents for their opinions on what they would prefer the building to be used for.
Volunteers will be knocking on doors and asking members of the public to complete a survey and return the questionnaire to them.
The results of the survey will then be used to formulate a business plan based on the most commercially viable ideas for the area.
