What started off as a day of celebration but it soon turned into dismay for Aston Villa, as they suffered a 4-0 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup Final.

Arsenal have retained the trophy making them the most successful team in the history of the competition.

Villa fans were on the edge of their seats in the first half until a bold strike from Theo Walcott put Arsenal ahead just before the break.

The second half only brought more woes for Villa with a superb long-range strike by Chilean Alexis Sanchez.

An unmarked Per Mertesacker followed with a header, leaving Villa fans in despair.

Finally Olivier Giroud tapped in a fourth goal as 25,000 Villa fans lost all hope of winning their first FA Cup title since 1957.
