Out of control milk van leaves trail of breakfast food in its wake
Police have arrested a man who tried to escape from officers in a milk van, leaving a trail of breakfast products in his wake.
At 3.35am, an open-sided delivery van was stolen from outside a house on Hill Street near Birmingham’s New Street station.
Patrol cars spotted the transit van – which was laden with milk and bread – at Camp Hill Circus. But the driver failed to stop for officers and started driving the van the wrong way along the A45.
Officers chased the driver for several miles before throwing a 'stinger' in front of the van's wheels. It ground to a halt in Withdean Close, a cul-de-sac off Golden Hillock Road, where a 28-year-old man was arrested.
He remains in police custody on suspicion of vehicle theft, dangerous driving, refusing to take a breath test, driving while disqualified, and failing to stop for officers.
