Police in West Bromwich seized a car off a man when he was dropping his girlfriend off at a club dressed in a Batman dressing gown and a pair of slippers.

It was part of a crackdown against foreign registered vehicles. Vehicles which have been in the UK for longer than six months must be registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) – and be fitted with British registration plates.

Without a British number plate linked to a British address, they are virtually untraceable, meaning they can escape speeding fines, parking tickets and road tax.
