Out-of-hours GPs experiencing "unprecedented demand"

Demand for out-of-hours GP services in Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin is currently experiencing "unprecedented demand", according to healthcare bosses.

Shropdoc received calls from more than 600 people in the last 24 hours which is more calls than they would normally receive over an entire weekend.

Meanwhile Heart of England NHS Trust, which runs Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham, told ITV News Central that A&E is extremely busy and staff are appealing for people to consider alternatives to A&E.

The advice is to call NHS 111 if you are need medical help or advice is the situation is not life threatening.
