Nottingham school to be rebuilt after four-year wait
A school in Nottingham which has been waiting more than four years for rebuilding work to start has finally had some good news.
Building contractors have been appointed to start work on new classrooms at Top Valley Academy, with work expected to start next year.
The school first lost out on their rebuild plans in 2010 when the 'Building Schools for the Future' scheme was scrapped.
Next the Government announced that the school would get a rebuild under its Priority Schools Building Programme, but even after two years, there was frustration that no work had begun.
But now, the school has been told by the education Funding Agency that the company involved in the building of the Library of Birmingham, and Heathrow Airport Terminal Five, will soon start work at the Academy.
The school principal said planning consultation is likely to be held in spring, and that they are hoping to be in a position to move into the new school in 2017.
