A gardener has narrowly avoided having to have his leg amputated after being attacked by a snake.

Mick Astbury, 74, was working on his allotment in Cheslyn Hay near Walsall in the West Midlands when he was struck by an adder.

Mick was rushed to Cannock Hospital and given antibiotics, but found the pain and swelling got worse and says he is still in pain now, six weeks on.
