Former racing dog brings smiles to hospice
A former racing dog has found a new job since leaving the track, working at a hospice in Derbyshire.
Lady the greyhound spends one day a week at Treetops hospice in Risley, offering comfort to the people there.
Lady is a 7-year-old greyhound who used to be a racing dog, but she wasn't retired for long.
Today, she's back in employment - as a therapy dog - spending time with guests who attend day care at Treetops Hospice, in Risley, in Derbyshire.
Through the 'Pets as Therapy' charity, Karen brings Lady to the hospice once a week, where she sits and enjoys all the fuss, and the occasional treat.
For some, having Lady here is the highlight of the day:
Lady is always on her lead, which is held by Karen. It's much more relaxed than when she was racing round the track, but Lady seems to enjoy this all the same.
