Olympic Torch Relay disrupted by heavy rain on Nottinghamshire leg
The Olympic Torch Relay through Nottinghamshire has been hit by thunderstorms and heavy downpours this morning.
Torchbearers had to shelter in a coach, which is part of the Relay convoy, for a short period as the flame passed through Mansfield.
Crowds huddled under brollies as they cheered on 16-year-old Laura Graves from Grantham who carried the Torch through Sherwood Forest in Nottingham.
Glenn Chambers carried the Torch on part of the leg between Edwinstowe and Mansfield.
Stopping briefly due to heavy rain, security staff had to hold the flame under an umbrella to shelter it from the downpour.
The showers will spread North Eastwards throughout the day, which could be good news for the Torch as behind the rain, drier and brighter weather is expected.
