Campaign against hospital services transfer
The North Warwickshire MP Daniel Byles is stepping up his campaign to halt the possible transfer of children and maternity services from the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton to Coventry.
He says although a lot of the financial pressures at George Eliot have eased in recent years he is worried that the PCT is currently reviewing the way paediatric and maternity services are being provided in the north of the county.
It’s an issue that unites political parties with both sides hoping the services can remain in Nuneaton and Bedworth.
This week Daniel Byles and fellow Conservative MP Marcus Jones for Nuneaton held a meeting with Health Secretary Andrew Lansley.
They told him that local people are worried at the extra distances that would have to be travelled if the services switch.
They are urging local people to make their views known before it’s too late.
