Home Secretary Amber Rudd to meet with Orgreave campaigners
Home Secretary Amber Rudd will meet with campaigners from the Orgeave Truth and Justice Campaign (OTJC) after the summer recess, as calls grow for a public inquiry into the incident.
Shadow Home Secretary Andy Burnham raised an urgent question with the new home secretary in the Commons earlier today as he demanded 'justice' for the campaigners.
However Ms Rudd said she will not be rushed into a decision but will consider it over the summer.
Earlier, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn also called for an inquiry into the Battle of Orgreave in Prime Minister Theresa May's first PMQs.
Thousands of miners and police officers clashed at the Orgreave coking plant near Rotherham in June 1984.
