Appeal for witnesses after fatal crash near Harrogate
Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal crash involving a refuse collection wagon and a car near Harrogate. The 70-year-old male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision happened approximately two miles north of the Stonehouse Inn on the road between Blubberhouses and Greenhow Hill, north of Thruscross reservoir.
It involved the wagon which was travelling south from the direction of Pateley Bridge, towards the Stonehouse Inn, and a Skoda Fabia travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the wagon, a man in his 20s, was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with a serious arm injury and the passenger in the wagon, another man aged in his 20s, was airlifted to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough with a serious shoulder injury.
