70-year-old dies following collision between waste collection wagon and car
A 70-year-old man has died following a collision involving a refuse collection wagon and a car in the Harrogate area.
The collision was reported at 8.55am on Tuesday 19 April 2016, and happened approximately two miles north of the Stonehouse Inn on the road between Blubberhouses and Greenhow Hill, north of Thruscross reservoir.
The driver of the car, who was from Otley, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the wagon and his passenger, both in their 20s, were airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with a serious arm and shoulder injuries.
Police are appealing for witnesses and in particular want to speak to a man driving a blue Mini who was travelling north, in the direction of Pateley Bridge, who stopped to help at the scene of the crash but left before the police arrived.
