Yorkshire writer's tribute to ''best northern storyteller'' Barry Hines

Tributes have been paid to the Barnsley author Barry Hines, who has died aged 76.

The author of the novel A Kestrel for a Knave - which was adapted into the classic film Kes - had Alzheimers.

His friend, the writer Ian Clayton, today described him as "the best northern working class story teller we've had." Michael Billington reports:
