Kellingley Colliery staff to receive redundancy letters this week
Upto 200 staff at Kellingley Colliery will receive redundancy letters this coming week.
The owners, UK Coal, are to close the mine by the end of the year with the loss of 700 jobs.
This follows the Government announcing, in March, that it would not provide extra cash to keep Kellingley open until 2018.
This first phase of job losses will effect miners currently working on a coal face which is due to be finished by July 10th.
