Ex-soldier, Simon Buckden, faces seven counts of fraud by false representation.
Buckden is accused of falsely claiming claiming to have been suffering from cancer and to have been in the SAS. He is also accused of falsely claiming to suffer from post traumatic stress disorder.
It is alleged he committed the offences for his own gain.
He spoke in court only to confirm personal details and has been bailed to appear at Leeds Crown Court on April 1st.
