Man pleads guilty to causing £300,000 damage at recycling centre

A man has pleaded guilty to wrecking a council recycling centre near Todmorden causing damage put at £300,000.

Magistrates in Halifax heard how 59-year -old Trevor Lewis who worked at the tip at Eastwood had become depressed after suffering a knee injury.

Lewis ran amok with a digger and set fire to a portable building on the site which will be closed until November.

Lewis of Mayroyd Moorings, Station Road in Hebden Bridge was remanded on bail to appear at Bradford Crown Court on August the 27th.
