Man assaulted at Sheffield Tour de France fan park

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted at the Tour De France fan park in Sheffield. The 32-year-old, suffered cuts to his back and facial injuries after the attack at Wincobank Common on Sunday July 6,2014 at around 3.15pm.

The victim was taken to hospital where his condition is described as stable. Police believe the assault which happened before the cyclists came through, was an isolated, targeted attack.

Officers are keen to hear from members of the public who recorded footage and may have captured the incident on film.
