Lorry crashes off M18 bridge

Police were called yesterday after a lorry, travelling on the M18 South, at Rawcliffe Bridge.

A tyre on the lorry had burst, which caused the vehicle to slide across the road and, fall over the bridge. As it fell it caught fire.

The driver of the lorry, a 61 year old man, was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary and treated for cuts, bruises and dislocated shoulder.

Police closed the M62 Westbound to the M18 as all emergency services helped in the recovery of the vehicle, which was carrying fertiliser.
