Charlton: Collins had everything, he changed us as a side

Leeds legend, Jack Charlton, has paid tribute to former skipper, Bobby Collins, who has died aged 82.

Midfielder Collins made 167 appearances during a five year stint at Elland Road between 1962 and 1967.

World Cup winning centre-half, Charlton, admits although the pair didn't always see eye to eye, there was no denying Collins' qualities on the pitch:

"When Bobby came over to us from Everton, everything completely changed. We went from being an average side to being an excellent one. He had everything, he was strong, skilful - he could get a ball in the back of the net from well outside the box."

"I got on with Bobby but I'm not denying we had the odd spat from time to time. He was a big character at Leeds and we could both be pretty stubborn at times! But he was a fantastic footballer and it's a sad day."
