Campaign to preserve Picture Theatre in Hull

The National Picture Theatre in Hull

Campaigners have started a petition to save the The National Picture Theatre in Hull, after its owners applied for planning permission to turn some of the site into a car park.

The building is Grade II Listed, and was given the status as it is a rare Blitz-damaged survivor.

It's said to be the only remaining example in the country of a civilian building damaged during the Blitz.

The National Civilian WW2 Memorial Trust want to develop it into a WW2 'Home Front Tribute'.

However, the current owner has submitted a planning application to develop the rear of the site into car park, and an outdoor eating and drinking area for a nearby pub.
