Sheffield libraries could face closure
Fifteen libraries in Sheffield could face closure unless the council can find volunteers to run them. The authority says it needs to save more than one point six million pounds from its library budget and can only cover the running costs of five sites.
The remaining libraries need to find community groups to take them over and around thirty groups have registered an interest so far. Consultation on the cutbacks will begin in October and run for twelve weeks.
This is what local councillors David Baker (LibDem, Stannington) and Mazher Iqbal (Labour, Darnall) have to say.
