Former MP Wilf Proudfoot dies aged 91
The former Tory MP and North Yorkshire businessman Wilf Proudfoot has died aged 91.
Mr Proudfoot set up his first supermarket in Scarborough after the Second World War, and the business still remains in family ownership.
In a colourful career Mr Proudfoot was MP in two seats including Brighouse and Spenborough and was managing director of a pirate radio station in Scarborough, Radio 270, which broadcast for a year until it was closed down in August 1967. In later years he started a school for hypnotherapy.
