More than 100 villagers in Burn, near Selby, recently passed a vote of no confidence in Selby District Council over plans for a new traveller site.
The village already has a site nearby in which around 40 travellers live. A planned second site, however, would contain around 200 more people - taking the number close to the number of residents in the village.
Villagers have set up a fund for a consultant to fight the plans for the new community - on Burn airfield.
At around 11pm on Friday night police were called to Darley Avenue in Athersley to reports that a man had been stabbed.
