Villagers set up battle fund to fight travellers' site plans

Residents living in a small village in North Yorkshire say they'll fight plans for another traveller site "tooth and nail".

More than 100 villagers in Burn, near Selby, recently passed a vote of no confidence in Selby District Council over plans for a new traveller site.

The village already has a site nearby in which around 40 travellers live. A planned second site, however, would contain around 200 more people - taking the number close to the number of residents in the village.

Villagers have set up a fund for a consultant to fight the plans for the new community - on Burn airfield.
