A teenager from Brighouse has been named the UK Young Engineer of the Year. Fred Turner has built his own DNA testing machine to work out why his brother has ginger hair and he does not.

The teenager from Brighouse who has been named the UK Young Engineer of the Year says it was inspiration from his parents that first fuelled his interest in science. Fred Turner has grown up carrying out experiments at home and has now built his own genetic testing machine to examine his own DNA.
