Police horses join Twitter

The West Yorkshire Police Mounted Section is following in the footsteps of the Force helicopter by getting their own Twitter account. Mounted officers will tweet from the @WYPHorses account so people can keep up to date with the the force's 18 horse’s movements and their duties.

This ranges from providing proactive patrols in support of neighbourhood policing areas to pre planned operational events. You will also see what’s going on at the stables in order to keep the horses fit and ready for work.

Inspector Trevor Thackray of the Mounted Section said, "Following the success of the@WYPHelicopter account we thought it was time to show the public what we do as a department. Twitter has given us a platform to show the public the value our horses add to the organisation."
