Lancaster bomber fly past at RAF Metheringham

The highlight will be a flypast by a Battle of Britain Lancaster bomber from nearby RAF Coningsby.

The veterans will also present an engraved bench to the visitors centre. The rest of the afternoon will be spent at what was known as RAF Metheringham.

106 Squadron reunited at RAF Metheringham

The squadron lost 59 Lancaster bombers by the end of the war in 1945 and in total flew 5,834 sorties with the loss of over 1,000 airmen.

One of the 106 Squadron's commanding officer went on to become the leader of the Dambusters Squadron based at RAF Scampton.
