1000 expected at 'bedroom tax' protest in Leeds

'Bedroom tax' protests have taken place across the country

Up to 1000 campaigners are expected to join a protest against the so called 'bedroom tax' in Leeds. The union Unite claims that up to 80,000 people could be affected by the policy which reduces benefits for social housing tenants deemed to be living in homes bigger than they need.

Unite community co-ordinator for Yorkshire Joe Rollin said: "We will be driving home the message that we want a 'no eviction' policy implemented by Leeds City Council and other local authorities in Yorkshire."
