One person arrested as police deal with 'serious incident' in Barnsley

One person has been arrested after reports of someone brandishing a knife in Barnsley town centre.

Police were called to the scene around 8.20am. One man suffered minor injuries.

A person has been arrested in connection with the incident and is in police custody.

There are several scenes in place in the town centre and extra police patrols are in the area.

South Yorkshire Police have said they have yet to establish if it is an 'isolated incident' and whether the person 'acted alone'.
