Vulnerable people living in Humberside are being urged to avoid cold callers who may be part of a 'bogus' police officer scam.

Humberside Police received reports from elderly residents in Hull, on the 30th June, claiming a woman had knocked on their door pretending to be a police officer.

Two houses in the same streets were burgled around the same time, where a wallet and handbag were allegedly stolen.

The properties, one on St Georges Road and one on Thornwick Close in the Boulevard area, were accessed through insecure doors.

Officers say the woman pretending to work for the police was dressed in plain clothes.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police on 101.
