Woman's body pulled from Roundhay Park lake
A woman's body has been pulled from the main lake at Roundhay Park.
Police were called at around 9.20am today after a jogger saw the woman in Waterloo Lake.
Her body was recovered by firefighters.
A police cordon is in place while investigations are carried out.
Detective Inspector James Entwistle, of Leeds District Safeguarding Unit, said the woman is though to be around 50 years old an was wearing a black and green dress and a dark blue coat as well as glasses.
A post-mortem examination will take place tomorrow.
Det Insp Entwistle said: "We are still in the process of establishing her identity and we would like to hear from anyone who recognises the description or thinks they know who it might be."
Signs warning about the dangers of the lake are situated around the water's edge, along with memorials to two teenage boys who died while swimming in 2005.
