Courtroom chaos as jailed defendants shout "Allahu Akbar"
There were emotional and chaotic scenes at Sheffield Crown Court after two of six defendants jailed for the sexual exploitation of two young girls shouted "Allahu Akbar" as they were led from the dock.
As their supporters began shouting down into the court, one of the victimsshouted back "justice is served" as police moved into the public gallery.
A woman who was sexually exploited by the men in Rotherham from the age of 11 and made pregnant when she was 12 had watched as five of her abusers were given jail sentences of up to 20 years.
Judge Sarah Wright described how one of the girls was plied with alcohol and drugs and was having sex with a number of men from the age of 11.
The victim, in a statement read to the court, said: "There's evil and trulyevil people in the world. I feel my child was the product of pure evil."
Judge Wright paid tribute to the woman, who was sitting just a few feet away from her in the packed courtroom. In the impact statement read to the court, the woman said she was drawn into a world of "fear, rape and horrific abuse".
Reacting to the sentencing of the six men, the Rotherham MP, Sarah Champion, said a huge debt of gratitude was owed to the survivors in bravely coming forward to police.
