Barnsley Council to urge government rethink over Orgreave inquiry
Barnsley Council are set to today call on the government to rethink the decision not to hold a public inquiry into the Battle of Orgreave.
Last October, the Home Office chose not to review the policing of pickets at the coking plant during the miners strike.
The motion is is expected to receive overwhelming support at a council meeting tonight.
Meanwhile the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign is backing calls for a new law to give greater powers and protection to those who feel they have been wronged.
They met at Westminster with other campaign groups and the MP Andy Burnham who wants to create a "Hillsborough" law.
