Skegness ranked as world's 9th worst holiday destination

Skegness has been voted one of the top 10 worst holiday destinations in the world, according to an online poll.

According to the travel website Destination Tips, the Lincolnshire seaside town ranks ninth alongside the likes of Damascus in Syria as well as Pyongyang in North Korea

The website says: “Once thought of as quaint seaside town in northern England, Skegness is now a pile of dirt bordering the North Sea with a run-down amusement park idly resting on the land.”

But it is not a claim that's found favour in the town. Speaking to the Skegness Standard, the Mayor says the comments are offensive and should be held up to ridicule and contempt.
