Parents of man shot dead by police demand answers

The parents of the man shot dead by police in Huddersfield are demanding to know why their 'kind-hearted' son was targeted.

Yassar Yaqub was shot and killed in a car near the M62 in Huddersfield on Monday evening. The IPCC is investigating - and says what appears to be a non-police issue firearm was discovered in the car.

Yassar's parents, Mohammed and Safia are desperate for answers from the police - his sister, Samaira, has branded them 'murderers'.

Mr Yaqub, a prominent businessman in Huddersfield, said his son was a 'kind-hearted young man' and he would choose him as a son 'time after time after time'.

He has alleged that police 'did not like' his son because he had made a complaint against them which had been ongoing for the last 12 months.

He insists his son had 'never been involved' in firearms and that just because he had friends who may be associated with 'wrong things' did not mean he was.
