Strike ballot over fresh job cuts at Hull College
Staff at Hull College are calling for answers over plans to cut 141 jobs.
Members of the University and College Union (UCU) at the college are voting on possible strike action.
The job cuts come on top of recent rounds of redundancies that have already seen 385 jobs lost since 2011.
The proposals will see up to 60 lecturers losing their jobs and all three college nurseries close as Hull College Group attempts to address a £2.6m deficit.
Cuts will also be made in essential services including the library, learning support and IT.
The UCU said the plans have made a mockery of the college’s promise that there would not be further job losses after the last round of redundancies.
The ballot will close on September 30.
