Fancy a place by the seaside? Pier of the year up for sale
The UK's official best pier is looking for new owners after a two-year transformation.
The iconic Cleethorpes Pier, which was named Pier of the Year 2016 by the National Piers Society, reopened last summer after a staggering £4.7 million restoration.
Current owners of the historic building, the Huxford family, said they have taken the business as far as they could and have "reluctantly" put it up for sale for an undisclosed amount.
The restaurant, tea room and large ballroom can cater for up to 800 people and can host weddings, conferences and more.
The Huxford family said they are immensely proud of what has been achieved through the impressive restoration and refurbishment of The Pier but are looking for fresh hands to help it flourish in the upcoming years.
Despite their heavy financial and personal investment in the building, Bryan Huxford said he felt it would be better for The Pier, surrounding resort and local residents to hand the opportunity to a buyer who has the expertise to achieve the business' full potential.
Mr Huxford said: "I understand that there will be some who see this decision to sell as a failure for The Pier, but they couldn't be more wrong."
Mr Huxford added he believed the business could flourish.
He said: "In the right hands I am confident that this business will continue to flourish.
"This has never been about making lots of money, so the priority is in finding the right buyer - one who gives me the confidence to know that I am placing The Pier and its future in safe hands that will ensure longevity of success."
The building is listed for sale with the benefit of all fixtures and fittings including £450,000 worth of kitchen equipment.
The major two-year overhaul which the Pier debuted in August last year included a full revamp of its surrounding decking and the creation of the 1873 restaurant - named after the Pier's official opening at the height of the Victorian era.
